Dental Cleaning, Preventative Care, & Digital Radiographs (X-Rays)

Dental Cleaning & Preventative Care

At Dr. Robert Riesenberger’s Pediatric Dentist Office, we believe in making dental cleanings a fun and educational experience for your child. During a dental cleaning, our friendly and experienced hygienist will gently remove any plaque and tartar buildup on your child’s teeth, leaving them fresh and clean. We’ll also take digital radiographs to check for any signs of tooth decay or other dental issues. To help prevent future cavities and protect your child’s teeth, we may recommend a fluoride treatment or sealants. Our goal is to make dental cleanings a positive and enjoyable experience for your child, while also keeping their teeth and gums healthy and beautiful.

We also believe that preventive care is the cornerstone of optimal oral health for children. Our comprehensive dental cleaning and preventive care services are designed to keep your child’s teeth and gums healthy and beautiful, and detect any potential issues early on. Our experienced and friendly team provides a thorough dental cleaning and examination of your child’s teeth, as well as x-rays and other diagnostic tools as needed. We understand that dental visits may be stressful for some children, which is why we strive to create a comfortable and welcoming environment to put them at ease. Our team works closely with you and your child to develop a customized preventive care plan that meets their unique needs. Our goal is to provide the highest quality dental care to kids of all ages. Your Child’s First Visit

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends scheduling your child’s first visit between the ages of six months and one year. This visit is more educational than treatment-related and gives parents an opportunity to learn proper cleaning techniques and discuss fluoride needs and preventive dental care. Dr. Rob will look for any existing problems such as thumb or finger-sucking habits, “baby bottle” tooth decay, and any oral abnormalities.

Your child’s first “official” visit, around the age of 2-2 1/2 years of age, will include a dental cleaning and fluoride treatment by our hygienist and a comprehensive oral health examination by Dr. Rob. The hygienist and Dr. Rob will patiently explain each step to your child, using “kid-friendly” terminology and demonstrations. You are welcome to stay with your child during this visit to share in their experience.

Digital Radiographs (X-Rays)

We use the latest digital radiograph technology to provide accurate and detailed images of your child’s teeth and jaw. Digital radiographs are an essential part of diagnosing and treating dental issues in children, allowing us to detect any problems early on and provide the most effective treatment.

During a digital radiograph, your child will sit comfortably while a small sensor is placed in their mouth to capture images of their teeth and jaw. Unlike traditional x-rays, digital radiographs emit significantly less radiation, making them safe for children. The images captured are instantly available on a computer screen, allowing us to analyze and discuss any findings with you and your child.

Our experienced team uses digital radiographs to detect a range of dental issues, from cavities and tooth decay to bone loss and developmental abnormalities. This technology allows us to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets your child’s unique needs and ensures the best possible outcome.

At our office, we understand that parents may have concerns about radiation exposure and we take great care to minimize any risks. Our team will work closely with you to answer any questions you may have and ensure that your child’s safety and comfort are our top priority.
